The Seattle University women’s golf team opened play Sunday at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, ending the day in 13th place after the first round of the tournament hosted by Georgia State University at the Eagle’s Landing Country Club.
Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) emerged as Seattle U’s top golfer once again, shooting 79 (+7) to finish the day in a tie for 36th place. Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) and Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) each posted a first-round score of 80 (+8) and currently sit in a tie for 42nd place.
Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) recovered from a rough start with three birdies to end up in a tie for 52nd place at 81 (+9). Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) shot 89 (+17) to finish the first round in 80th place.
As a team, Seattle U combined for an opening round score of 320 (+32), finishing the day in 13th place. After shooting 302 (+14), Troy took a two-stroke lead over Morehead State and Old Dominion, with Jeanette Petersen of Morehead State posting the only round under par at one-under-par 71 to take a one-stroke lead over three players in the individual standings.
