LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Seattle University softball (10-22) took an early lead but could not add to their tally as Loyola Marymount (18-21) tied the game and took the lead for good to earn a 7-2 win to close the LMU/Muscle Milk Softball Invitational.

The Redhawks took a 2-0 lead through the first half inning on a trio of singles, the final a two-RBI single down the right field line by Rose Saenz (San Gabriel, Calif.) to bring home Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) and Breanna Timmons (Santa Maria, Calif.), who each reached base on a single.

Stephanie Maciel and Amanda Dirks quickly tied the score, 2-2, with back-to-back solo home runs for the Lions in the bottom of the frame before Meghan Von Behren hit a two-run homer in the second to give LMU a 4-2 advantage.

Dirks and Stephanie Crist hit consecutive RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring home three more runs for a 7-2 Loyola Marymount lead, which would be the final margin. The Redhawks left the bases loaded in the top of the fifth.

Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) moved up to a tie for the top spot in Seattle U’s all-time career doubles records (32) with a two-base hit down the right field line in the top of the third.

Alyssa Reuble (Lynnwood, Wash.) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on three hits in one and two-thirds innings of work while walking one. Lindsay Davis (Palo Cedro, Calif.) entered in relief allowing the final three runs on four hits while walking one and striking out two in four and one-third inning.

Rachael Farrington picked up the win for the Lions, allowing just two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five in the complete game win.

Seattle U hosts Northwest University on Wednesday, Mar. 25 at 5 p.m. at Logan Field before traveling to Phoenix, Ariz. to open Western Athletic Conference play at Grand Canyon this weekend.
