SU to Host Big 12 Opponent, Travel South to LA: Seattle University softball played their first games on their home field last week after opening with five straight weekends on the road to open the 2015 season. This week, the Redhawks are set to host Texas Tech on Wednesday before traveling south for the LMU Invitational for the weekend for their final non-conference tournament. The Redhawks open their third Western Athletic Conference season in Phoenix on the home field of the 2014 Regular Season Champions, Grand Canyon, on Mar. 27-28.
Up Next and Looking Ahead: The Redhawks are hosting games for four straight Wednesdays, this week the second of the series, also hosting Northwest University (Mar. 25), and Portland State (Apr. 1) over the next two weeks. Seattle U hosts New Mexico State for a three-game series on Apr. 3-4 to open their home WAC schedule. Seattle U will play seven games in an eight day stretch (Mar. 18-Mar. 25) and 10 games in an 11 day stretch (Mar. 18-Mar. 28) over the next two weeks.

Bubba Morrow Nearing Seattle U Career Doubles Record: Morrow took sole possession of second place in Seattle U’s career doubles records (31 as of 3/16) recently and is one away from tying Allegra Wilde’s top spot (32).

Scouting Texas Tech (15-15): Texas Tech won three of four at last weekend’s Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic in Lubbock, taking two from Mississippi Valley State and one from Tulsa. The Red Raiders have faced several Western Athletic Conference teams in non-conference play including a 5-3 win at NMSU (Feb. 5), a 7-4 loss to Grand Canyon at Texas State (Feb. 14), a 9-6 win over UMKC in Arlington (Feb. 21), and a 6-5 loss (Mar. 6) and 8-5 win (Mar. 7) to Utah Valley in Lubbock. Jordan Bettiol (.442, 28 R, 42 H, 2 2B, 1 3B, 13 RBI) and Devon Thomey (.400, 22 R, 32 H, 5 2B, 3 3B, 4 HR, 28 RBI) are each batting over 400 for Texas Tech while, in the circle, Cara Custer has a team-low 3.92 ERA (8-8, 1 sh, 1 sv, 6 CG, 65 SO). This will be the first ever meeting between the Red Raiders and Redhawks.
Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson (1-3): The Knights have had a tough start to the season, with 11 of 15 scheduled contests thus far cancelled due to weather. FDU picked up their first win of the season recently (Mar. 13) vs. Manhattan at the Carolina Classic behind Madison Lerma’s go-ahead grand slam. Lerma leads the team at the plate (.583) with four runs on seven hits as well as two home runs and seven RBI. Each of three members of the FDU pitching staff have a plus-7.00 ERA through four games.
Scouting Loyola Marymount (12-19): LMU dropped four of six at last weekend’s Sacramento State Invitational, including two losses to Grand Canyon. They defeated the Lopes in their second of three contests vs. GCU, also picking up a win over Sacramento State, 3-1, on Mar. 15. Amanda Dirks leads the Lions at the plate (.390, 19 R, 32 H, 8 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 25 RBI while in the circle, Racha Farrington owns a team low 3.89 ERA (8-9, 10 CG, 2 sh, 2 sv, 40 SO).

Calesha Shelley leads the team at the plate (.313, 15 R, 26 H, 2 3B, 2 RBI) while Bailey Conner leads in the circle (4.93 ERA, 3-4, 4 CG, 1 sh, 26 SO).
