Redhawks to Make First Emerald City Appearance of 2015: After opening the season with four straight weekends on the road in Arizona, New Mexico, and California, Seattle University softball returns to their home city for the first time in 2015, making the short crosstown trip to Montlake for Washington’s Spring Classic. This weekend, the Redhawks will face Miami of Ohio, Washington, and Cal State Northridge. SU hosts their first home games starting next week vs. Notre Dame de Namur (Mar. 11) and Texas Tech (Mar. 18) and will open their third WAC season in Phoenix on the home field of the 2014 Regular Season Champions, Grand Canyon, on Mar. 27-28.

Bubba Morrow Nearing Seattle U Career Doubles Record: Morrow took sole possession of second place in Seattle U’s career doubles records (31 as of 2/24) this past weekend and is one away from tying Allegra Wilde’s top spot (32).

Scouting No. Washington (19-4): The Huskies went 5-1 last week, currently on a five-game winning streak, at last weekend’s Libby Matson Tournament in Stockton (Feb. 27) and Santa Clara Invitational in Santa Clara (Feb. 28-Mar. 1). At the plate Kylee Lahners (.483, 22 runs, 29 hits, 4 doubles, five home runs, 20 RBI) and Trysten Melhart (.432, 14 runs, 16 hits, one double, six RBI) lead the Huskies while, in the circle, Casey Stangel has a team-low 1.92 ERA, a 5-1 record, two complete games, and 19 strikeouts in 10 appearances and eight starts.
Scouting Cal State Northridge (17-4): The Matadors have won nine of their last 10 games dating back to Feb. 20 in Phoenix, Ariz. at the GCU Invitational. Last week, CSUN went 5-1 with a pair of wins over Bakersfield and College of Charleston at the CSUN/LMU Tournament, a doubleheader sweep of Utah Valley, and a win in their home opener versus St. John’s (NY). Zoe Conley earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors for the second straight week on Mar. 2, going 4-1 last week with a 0.69 ERA, 33 strikeouts, and the first CSUN no-hitter since 2008. Among starters, Conley leads the team in the circle with a 1.08 ERA on the season with an 8-2 record, three complete games, and 63 strikeouts. At the plate, Aliyah Ricks has a team-high .714 average, .750 on-base percentage, and .857 slugging percentage. CSUN is 3-0 all-time versus SU, last earning a 4-3 win on Feb. 8, 2014 at the Kajikawa Classic.

In the circle, Amber Logemann owns a team-low 2.27 ERA and a 5-2 record with five starts, one shutout, 44 strikeouts, and a .228 batting average against. Miami has suffered several lost games due to weather this season, including the entire Feb. 21-22 weekend at the Tiger Classic in Nashville as well as three games at last weekend’s Citrus Classic in Orlando. Most recently, the Red Hawks earned a 3-2 win over Indiana in Orlando on Mar. 1. Miami (Ohio) has won both meetings versus Seattle U as SU hosted Miami on Mar. 10, 2010, a 10-inning 1-0 win for MU, before dropping a 2-0 contest to the Red Hawks at the Husky Softball Classic shortly thereafter on Mar. 13, 2010.
