Rebecca MaWhinney would open the contest with a three for UVU, adding a second as the Wolverines took an 8-4 lead into the first media timeout.
Crystal Allen (Fort Worth, Texas) and Wilma Afunugo (Plano, Texas) hit back-to-back buckets to tie the game at eight five minutes in, but Utah Valley would go on an 8-0 run over the next two and a half minutes to lead, 16-8 by 12:26.
Utah Valley would build their lead to double digits, 20-10, halfway through the first half and would lead 35-21 at half after a MaWhinney three-pointer a minute before halftime.
MaWhinney started where she left off with a three just a minute into the second half and Mariah Seals followed with one of her own.
Afunugo drove in a layup with 16:38 remaining to cut the Redhawk deficit to 15, 41-26, but SU would be held to just three points over the next 13 minutes.
Claire Metoyer (Desoto, Texas) hit a pair of free throws to spark an 11-8 SU run over the final three and a half minutes.
Ross led the Redhawks with nine points and seven rebounds while Metoyer and Jazmine Johnson (Lakewood, Calif.) dished out a team-high four assists apiece. MaWhinney and Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led all players on the floor with 18 points apiece.
The Wolverines outrebounded the Redhawks, 46-37, and held SU to just 25.4 percent shooting from the field (17-for-67).
