Home Sweet Home: With a record-high 20 home games this season, SU is already through 17 games of their 2014-15 home schedule, completing 10 of 20 (including exhibitions) prior to the Christmas holiday. At the beginning of January, the Redhawks finished a stretch in which they played 11 of 12 on their home court (Nov. 29-Jan. 10). After playing seven of eight home games during the month of December and six of eight in January, the Redhawks will play on their home floor just twice in February.

Scouting Grand Canyon (9-10, 3-3 WAC): For the second straight week, the Redhawks face the reigning WAC Player of the Week as GCU’s Casey Rarrick was named most recently (Jan. 26-Feb. 1) for scoring a combined 42 points in a pair of wins over UMKC and Chicago State, including a career-high 22 points vs. Kansas City. The Lopes bring a three-game win streak into the weekend and lead the league in fewest points allowed (60.5 ppg) as well as boasting the second best three-point field-goal percentage (34.5 percent). Individually, Jessica Gajewski (11.5 ppg) leads the team in scoring while Cheyenne Hedrington is pulling down a team-high 6.5 rpg. SU won last year’s meeting in Seattle, 89-68, while GCU won the meeting in Phoenix, 72-66. The Lopes are Redhawks are currently tied for fourth in conference standings.

Scouting Utah Valley (7-14, 1-5 WAC): Seattle U kicks off the second half of their WAC schedule with their first repeat opponent of the season, topping the Wolverines, 73-58, on Jan. 10 in Seattle. Since then, UVU won their next game, a close contest versus Grand Canyon (52-50 on Jan. 17) but have dropped the past four games. Coming into this week, the team’s leading scorer Rhaiah Spooner-Knight ranks in the top five in league standings in scoring (4th - 13.1 ppg), field goal pct. (4th - 49.8%), and free-throw pct. (4th - 78.7%). Karlee Norris is pulling down a team-high 7.4 rpg good for second in the WAC.

Record Breaking Performances: Renee Dillard-Brown earned her first career start vs. Bakersfield on Jan. 31, tying her career high eight rebounds (career high set on Jan. 24 vs. UMKC). Kristin Stoffel pulled down a season high five rebounds, Crystal Allen dished out a career high-tying five assists, and Jazmine Johnson tied her career high with eight points.
