“Wilma had an outstanding weekend,” said head coach Joan Bonvicini. “She scored well in both games and was a solid rebounder too. She is one of our hardest workers and is an exceptional leader on and off the floor.”
Last weekend, Afunugo averaged 13.0 points per game as she led the Redhawks in scoring in both Western Athletic Conference wins vs. Chicago State (Jan. 22) and Kansas City (Jan. 24). She also dished out a career high four assists on Jan. 24 vs. UMKC.
Afunugo also excels academically with a 3.54 cumulative GPA as a cell and molecular biology major.
The Redhawks completed their first weekend sweep of the season with a pair of convincing wins over Chicago State (75-51 on Jan. 22) and Kansas City (60-46 on Jan. 24), both at home. They are set to host Bakersfield on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m.
