Seattle University women’s basketball will be holding their first annual “Women in Leadership” game on Thursday, Dec. 4 at KeyArena at Seattle Center as they host the University of Washington. Five women from the Seattle community will be honored as part of the evening’s festivities, with a profile of each to appear on GoSeattleU.com leading up to the event. This is the second of the five-part series.

Anne Farrell is the President Emeritus of the Seattle Foundation and a lifetime Trustee Emeritus of Seattle University.

Over her illustrious career, Farrell has served on multiple corporate Boards of Directors including currently for Cornerstone Advisors as well as the National Association of Corporate Directors (NW Chapter). Previously, she has served on the Board of Directors for REI, Washington Mutual Bank, and Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska, among others.

In the non-profit sector, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Public Library Foundation, the Seattle Symphony Foundation, the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Lakeside School, KUOW Public Radio, Pacific Science Center, National Board of Girl Scouts of America, among many, many others.

She also currently serves on the board of Delta Dental of Washington as well as serving as the board chairwoman of KCTC Channel 9 Public Television.

At Seattle University, she previously served as a Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign (2003-09), Chair of Library Campaign (2005-09), and the Board of Regents (1987-2002).

In 2011, Farrell was named to the “Women of Influence” list by the Puget Sound Business Journal and received a University Service Award from the Seattle U Alumni Association in 2009. Among her many other awards, she has also received the Community Service Award from the Boy Scouts of America (2000), Woman of Achievement Award from the International Women’s Forum (1989), and the Isabel Colman Pierce Award for Excellence in Community Service from the YWCA (1984).
