Fans of Seattle University basketball will have their first chance to see the 2014-15 Redhawk men’s and women’s basketball teams during Redhawk Midnight Madness, taking place Thursday, Oct. 30, starting at 10 p.m. in the Connolly Center.
The evening will feature several giveaways such as T-shirts to the first 500 students and alumni entering the Connolly Center, free food, performances by the Seattle University Spirit Squad and Seattle U Redline, and contests pairing Redhawk players with fans as well as members of the men’s and women’s basketball teams working together. Also, check out the Redhawk bus, which will be parked along Cherry Street for the event.
Among the activities the Redhawk players will be participating in are a hot shot contest which pairs a player with a fan, a dance contest, and a combination three-point shooting contest/dunk showcase in which the women’s basketball players will determine how many dunks the men’s players they are teamed with receive based on the number of made three-pointers.
During the evening, fans will have a chance to catch T-shirts thrown into the stands as well as win other prizes during raffles and various other contests. Near the end of the night, two fans will be chosen to compete in a half-court shootout, with the winner receiving a vacation.
Both teams will have been participating in official practices and will be just two weeks away from the start of the regular season. The women’s basketball squad will be hoping to return to the WAC Tournament title game for the third consecutive year, while the men’s basketball team looks to improve and become a contender for the conference crown.
The doors will open at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, for fans to enter the Connolly Center, and admission is free for everyone. The event is co-sponsored by Coca Cola, Verizon Wireless, the Seattle University Division of Student Development, RedZone and Seattle U Athletics.
