Sophomore Kristin Hoffman (Mercer Island, Wash.) picked up two event victories, first winning the 200 freestyle by just 16/100ths of a second with a time of 1:56.35. She then touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle with a mark of 54.37 seconds, nearly 7/10ths of a second ahead of her nearest competitor.
Emma Foster (Clancy, Mont.) took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:54.63, and then she finished third in the 500 freestyle in 5:20.89, just behind teammate Katie Rottman (Phoenix, Ariz.) in second place in 5:20.57. Blaise Wittenauer-Lee (Portland, Ore.) picked up the other Seattle U event victory, finishing first in the 200 breaststroke by just 12/100ths of a second with a time of 2:23.10.
Wittenauer-Lee also finished second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:11.61, plus she joined Carlee Bock (Bellingham, Wash.), Alexis Martinez (Granite Bay, Calif.), and Paige Treff (Orland, Calif.) for a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:49.58. Treff later finished second in the 50 freestyle by just 3/100ths of a second with a time of 24.72 seconds, followed by Bock in third place in 25.22 seconds.
Kate Sabourin (Santa Rose, Calif.) put together a solid meet Saturday, finishing second in the 1000 freestyle in 11:01.56 and third in the 200 butterfly in 2:13.70. The meet concluded with Martinez, Stephanie Bayless (Spokane, Wash.), Melissa Randolf (Everett, Wash.), and Treff combining for a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:41.51.
The Seattle University women’s swim team will head east in two weeks, first taking on Washington State Friday, Nov. 7, in Pullman, Wash., before facing Idaho and Bakersfield Saturday, Nov. 8, in Moscow, Idaho.
