Stephanie Verdoia Advances to Senior CLASS Award? Top 10Stephanie Verdoia Advances to Senior CLASS Award? Top 10
Announced earlier this season as a Top 30 candidate, Seattle University women’s soccer’s Stephanie Verdoia (Salt Lake City, Utah) has advanced as a Top 10 finalist for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award®. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be an NCAA Division I senior and excel in four particular areas – community, classroom, character, and competition. The Senior CLASS Award® stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School® and is one of the most prestigious awards in collegiate athletics.

The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 women’s soccer candidates announced in September. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fan votes will count for 1/3 of the total vote and will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award® winners will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup® championships in December.

Verdoia recently received her sixth career Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor (Oct. 20) and was named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Women’s Soccer Division I National Player of the Week two weeks ago (Sept. 29-Oct. 5). Setting a new single game career high with eight points on Oct. 17 at New Mexico State, Verdoia is just one goal and two points away from tying Seattle U’s all-time records for career goals and points.

Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award® website through November 24. For more information on all the finalists and to vote, visit www.seniorCLASSaward.com.
