The Seattle University women’s golf team experienced both good and bad holes throughout Monday’s 36 holes of play, and the Redhawks would end up in eighth place after the first day of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.

Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) overcame a couple of big scores with eight birdies during the day, shooting rounds of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) to end the day in a tie for 18th place at 151 (+7). Beyke leads the 77-player field with her eight birdies as well as in par five scoring at three under par, plus she is tied for third in par three scoring at one under par.

Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) played a solid first round as she shot 76 (+4), but then she posted a second round score of 81 (+9) to finish the day in a tie for 31st place at 157 (+13). Right behind Brantberg is Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) in a tie for 33rd place at 158 (+14) after she improved from a first round 80 (+8) to a second round score of 78 (+6).

Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) earned six birdies in the morning round as she shot 77 (+5), but she did not earn a birdie in the afternoon, shooting 83 (+11) in the second round for a 36-hole total of 160 (+16). Addicks is tied for 47th place with five other players, including teammate Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.), who shot 81 (+9) in the morning and 79 (+7) in the afternoon.

Playing as individuals, Juhee Lee (Wilsonville, Ore.) is tied for 55th place at 162 (+18) after back-to-back rounds of 81 (+9), Monica Keo (Kaneohe, Hawaii) is right behind Lee in a tie for 57th place at 163 (+19) after rounds of 82 (+10) and 81 (+9), and Tori Hoff (Orinda, Calif.) is in 60th place at 165 (+21), showing improvement with a second round score of 80 (+8) after shooting 85 (+13) in the first round.

As a team, Seattle U posted rounds of 309 (+21) and 313 (+25) for a 36-hole total of 622 (+46), comfortably in eighth place but only 10 strokes away from fourth place Montana. Washington posted the two best team rounds of the day, shooting 291 (+3) and 288 (even) to establish a 14-stroke advantage over rival Washington State. Washington’s Jennifer Yang holds the individual lead by one stroke after shooting rounds of 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) equaled a 36-hole total of even-par 144.

The third and final round of Seattle University’s inaugural women’s collegiate golf tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Seattle U golfers will tee off on holes 8-10 as well as the 15th and 16th holes.
