Seattle U to Host GCU in Pink Game, Bakersfield on Weekend: After extending their regular season WAC winning streak to 15 games with Western Athletic Conference road wins at Grand Canyon and Bakersfield last weekend, Seattle U women’s soccer returns home to host the same pair of teams this weekend. The Redhawks welcome GCU on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and CSUB on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. Both days will be part of a doubleheader with the Seattle U men’s soccer team as they host UNLV on Friday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. and Grand Canyon on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1:30 p.m. A link to available live media for the weekend will be on the women’s soccer schedule page at GoSeattleU.com.
Pink Game Set For October 10: SU’s match vs. Grand Canyon on Oct. 10 will be the team’s annual pink game to benefit breast cancer research and fans will receive a ticket discount ($3 tickets) by wearing pink to the match. There will also be a silent auction (jersey, picture, and soccer ball) and tennis ball toss (prize: signed t-shirt), with a portion of proceeds benefitting Susan G.Komen and breast cancer research. Outside the gates, special pink t-shirts will also be sold and a t-shirt/match ticket combo will be $20.
Ticket Information: Fans can purchase single game tickets starting an hour prior to each match at the ticket booth at the main Championship Field entrance (corner of 14th and E Cherry). Prices are as follows: $7 for general admission, $5 for youth (17 and under) and seniors (65+). The Redhawk Sports Pass can also be purchased for $50 by calling the Redhawk Ticket Office at (206) 398-GOSU(4678), which is good for all men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, volleyball, and baseball home contests.

Maria Monterroso leads the team with five goals and last weekend, Jessica Valadez scored her first goal of the season vs. SU. In goal, Blakely Fraasch has made seven of 10 starts tallying 29 saves and 2.17 GAA.
Scouting Bakersfield (1-10-1, 0-2-0 WAC): Last weekend to open WAC play in Bakersfield, CSUB fell to both Utah Valley, 2-1, on Oct. 3 and the Redhawks, 6-3, on Oct. 5. Despite the pair of losses, Hedda Regefalk recorded a hat trick in the 6-3 loss to SU and was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week. Regefalk upped her team-leading goal tally to five of the team’s nine goals to open the season. Tori Ornela has started 11 of 12 games in goal with 62 saves and a 2.69 GAA. SU is 13-0 all-time vs. the Roadrunners going into this weekend.
Verdoia Named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division I Women’s National Player of the Week (Sept. 29-Oct. 5): After scoring both game-winners at Grand Canyon and Bakersfield on Oct. 3 and 5, as well as recording a career high seven points (two goals, three assists) at CSUB, Stephanie Verdoia was named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Division I Women’s Soccer National Player of the Week. She was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week for her efforts.
