After a fog delay forced the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington, to be shortened to a two-day, 36-hole event, the Seattle University women’s golf team completed Tuesday’s opening round in 12th place at the Sahalee Country Club.
Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) once again led the Redhawks, compiling a tournament-leading 16 pars during her round to finish at two-over-par 74, currently tied for 17th place. Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) went through an up-and-down round, collecting four birdies, but also three bogeys and two holes worse than bogey, ending the day in a tie for 30th place after shooting 76 (+4).
Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) is currently in a tie for 40th place after shooting 77 (+5) Tuesday, earning two birdies along the way. Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) struggled on several holes, offsetting three birdies with big scores to post a first round score of 80 (+8), ending up in a tie for 51st place. Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden) shot 81 (+9) in the opening round to end the day in a tie for 55th place.
As a team, Seattle U sits in 12th place after combining for an opening-round score of 307 (+19). Host school Washington was the only one to post a team score under par at 284 (-3), opening a nine-stroke lead over Gonzaga. Three Huskies occupy the top of the individual leaderboard, led by SooBin Kim, whose first-round 69 (-3) gives her a two-stroke lead over teammates Jennifer Yang and Eimi Koga as well as Gonzaga’s Raychelle Santos.
The second and final round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational will begin with players teeing off from the first and 10th holes at 8 a.m. Seattle University golfers will tee off from the 10th hole starting at 8 a.m. and continuing every 10 minutes until the 8:40 a.m. tee time.
