Seattle University softball earned six places on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2013-14 school year. Sarah Petosa (Federal Way, Wash.), Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.), Jennifer Sweet (Bend, Ore.), Kayla Shuster-Gonzales (Escondido, Calif.), Karina Smyth (San Luis Obispo, Calif.), and Jenny Hurst (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) all earned the honor.

The Redhawks were one of five members of the Western Athletic Conference to place student-athletes on the team and one of just three to also qualify as a team for the NFCA All-Academic Team list. As a squad, SU recorded a combined 3.206 GPA for the 2013-14 school year, good for 69th among 102 total ranked Division I teams. Seattle U was the only team in the Pacific Northwest named as a team.

Further representing their commitment to both athletics and academics, Hurst, Morrow, Petosa, Shuster-Gonzales, and Sweet were among those who received WAC All-Academic honors last season.

Across the Seattle U athletics department, the spring quarter 2014 was especially strong as all Redhawk student-athletes taking classes during that span averaged a 3.355 GPA.

The Redhawks will compete in a pair of fall tournaments for the next two weekends in preparation for their spring 2015 season. The regular season spring schedule will be released later this fall. Stay tuned to GoSeattleU.com for all the latest on the teams.
