Scouting No. 24 Oregon State (7-1-0): The Beavers recently made their way into both the NSCAA National Poll (No. 24) and the Soccer America National Poll (No. 25) after several marquee wins thus far in 2014. OSU is on a four game win streak including wins vs. Siena, Duquesne, Portland, and Northwest Christian. Oregon State’s 11-1 win over Northwest Christian set a new single-game record and their seven second half goals also set a school record for a single half. Khiry Shelton’s seven points (two goals, three assists) was a team high for the Beavers since 2012. This season, Timmy Mueller leads OSU with six goals while Matt Bersano and Nolan Wirth have played an equal number of minutes in goal. Their lone loss of the season came on Sept. 7 vs. Marquette, 1-0. The Redhawks and Beavers’ previous two matches have gone into overtime as SU came out on top on Sept. 19, 2009 at Championship Field in a 1-0 victory on a header goal by Demaci Roussos in the 94th minute. Last season, OSU came out on top, 2-1, on Sept. 13, 2013 as the Beavers scored the game-winner on a header just 13 seconds before the end of the first overtime period.

Scouting Gonzaga (1-5-0 as of 9/23): Gonzaga opened 2014 with a five-game losing streak before earning their first win of the season in their most recent match vs. UNLV on Sept. 20. Before the trip to Seattle, the Bulldogs will go south to face Stanford on Friday, Sept. 26. Jakob Granlund leads the team with two goals while Chris Lowrimore has played all six complete games in goal. GU has been shut out three times, with the most narrow margin, 1-0, to then-No. 18 Cal on Sept. 14. Conner Bevans was named West Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week this week after scoring a goal and assisting two more.
