The Seattle University women’s golf team showed improvement during the second round Monday afternoon, moving up into seventh place after 36 holes of the Cougar Cup, hosted by Washington State University at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

After shooting 78 (+6) in the first round, junior Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) picked up three birdies and made just one bogey during her second circuit of the course for a 70 (-2), moving up into a tie for 16th place with a two-round total of 148 (+4). Ellen Brantberg (Stockholm, Sweden), playing her first tournament as a Redhawk, shot 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) for a cumulative total of 151 (+7), good enough to end the day in a tie for 25th place.

Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) posted scores of 76 (+4) and 78 (+6) for a two-round total of 154 (+10), finishing the day in a tie for 34th place. Monica Keo (Kaneohe, Hawaii) improved from an opening round 79 (+7) to a second round 77 (+5), while Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) made eight birdies during the day while shooting 76 (+4) and 80 (+8), with both players currently tied for 41st place at 156 (+12).

Playing as individuals, Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) shot 75 (+3) in each round Monday to end up in 24th place at 150 (+6), Tori Hoff (Orinda, Calif.) improved from an opening round 77 (+5) to a second round score of 75 (+3), posting a cumulative total of 152 (+8) to finish the day in a tie for 27th place, and Juhee Lee (Wilsonville, Ore.) ended up in a tie for 54th place at 165 (+21) after rounds of 82 (+10) and 83 (+11).

As a team, Seattle U posted rounds of 305 (+17) and 301 (+13) for a two-round total of 606 (+30), currently in seventh place but just three strokes behind sixth-place Sacramento State. Washington State posted identical rounds of 285 (-3) to take a 16-stroke lead over Idaho in the team standings, with the Cougars’ Kristen Rue shooting consecutive rounds of 69 (-3) to end the day with a two-stroke lead over teammate Nani Yanagi.

The third and final round of the Cougar Cup will commence with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., with Seattle U golfers starting on holes 9-12 as well as 14 (Lee), 16 (Hoff), and 18 (Addicks).
