The 2014-15 competition schedule for the Seattle University men’s basketball team has been released to the public, with 15 contests at KeyArena at Seattle Center as well as returns to the ShoWare Center in Kent and to the Connolly Center on campus.
The season begins Friday, Nov. 14, when the Redhawks host former WAC rival Texas State beginning at 7 p.m. The homestand continues Wednesday, Nov. 19, when Seattle U welcomes the Mavericks of Nebraska Omaha from the Summit League back to KeyArena. UNO participated in the 2011 Elgin Baylor Classic and hosted Seattle U last December.
The Redhawks enter an exciting weekend, starting Friday, Nov. 21, when they host the Washington Huskies in the Elgin Baylor Classic at KeyArena starting at 7 p.m. Two days later, both teams return to Elgin Baylor Court, combining for a doubleheader in the inaugural Marv Harshman Classic Sunday, Nov. 23, with host school Seattle U facing Montana, followed by Washington taking on Pacific.
On Saturday, Nov. 29, Seattle U faces Big West school Cal State Northridge to conclude the five-game homestand. The Redhawks make their fourth annual trip south to the ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash., on Monday, Dec. 1, this time taking on Pacific Lutheran.
The first true road game of the season takes the Redhawks to UC Santa Barbara for a contest against the Gauchos Thursday, Dec. 4, before returning to KeyArena for a game against in-state rival Eastern Washington Saturday, Dec. 6. After taking fall quarter finals, Seattle U sees another former conference foe, traveling to San Jose State for a contest against the Spartans Saturday, Dec. 13.
For the first time since Feb. 14, 2009, the Seattle U men’s basketball team will play a regular season game at the Connolly Center on campus, welcoming Northwest University to the North Court Monday, Dec. 15. The Redhawks head to the Midwest for their first-ever meeting with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the 2014 NIT champions, at historic Williams Arena Friday, Dec. 19.
The pre-Christmas schedule closes with a home contest against Sacramento State Sunday, Dec. 21, and the post-holiday portion of the schedule starts at KeyArena, as UC Davis comes to town Tuesday, Dec. 30. The non-conference schedule ends Saturday, Jan. 3, with a matchup against Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif.
Seattle U enters its third season of Western Athletic Conference play with a contest against defending WAC regular season champion Utah Valley in Orem, Utah, Saturday, Jan. 10. The Redhawks come home the next weekend for contests against Texas-Pan American Thursday, Jan. 15, and three-time defending WAC Tournament champion New Mexico State Saturday, Jan. 17.
The annual conference trip to the Midwest is next for Seattle U, with games at Chicago State (Jan. 22) and Kansas City (Jan. 24). The Redhawks head to Bakersfield, Calif., the next weekend for a matchup against the Roadrunners Saturday, Jan. 31.
The first half of the conference season concludes with a home game against Grand Canyon Thursday, Feb. 5, with Utah Valley coming to town on Homecoming to start the second half of the league schedule Saturday, Feb. 7. Seattle U hits the road on Valentine’s Day weekend for games at New Mexico State (Feb. 12) and Texas-Pan American (Feb. 14).
Seattle U opens a three-game homestand Wednesday, Feb. 18, against Kansas City, followed by back-to-back Saturday night contests against Chicago State (Feb. 21) and Bakersfield (Feb. 28), with the Roadrunner game serving as Senior Night. The Redhawks conclude the regular season the following Saturday, March 7, with a road game at Grand Canyon.
The 2014 Western Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will once again be held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., March 12-14. The winner of the tournament will receive the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The Seattle University men’s basketball team finished the 2013-14 season with a 13-17 overall record, a five-game improvement from the previous year. Isiah Umipig, a Second Team All-WAC selection last year, is one of 10 returning letterwinners for the Redhawks.

Pricing for single-game tickets will be available when those tickets go on sale in October. The vast majority of the planned construction around Seattle Center has been completed, opening up access and parking for fans.
