Recent Seattle University graduate Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah), a member of the Redhawk women’s golf team over the past four years, has been recognized by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) by being named an All-American Scholar, announced Wednesday by the national organization.

Gaddie completed her collegiate golf career by participating in all 10 tournaments for the Redhawks during the 2013-14 season. Compiling an average round score of 79.73, Gaddie’s best finish of the year came at the Santa Clara Colby Invitational Oct. 21-22, when she finished in a tie for 10th place. She ended the year with a 27th-place finish at the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships, birding the 18th hole in the third and final round, which would be the final hole of her collegiate competitive career.

Playing in 91 rounds during the past four years, second-most in the Redhawk women’s golf program since it was established in 2008-09, Gaddie compiled a career average score of 81.73. Her score counted within the team score over 70 percent of the time, and she earned 87 birdies over her four-year career, currently fourth-most in program history.

In the classroom, Gaddie graduated with cum laude honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, completing her coursework with a 3.573 grade point average. This is the second time Gaddie has received WGCA All-American Scholar honors, as she also picked up the honor as a sophomore after the 2011-12 season.

The former Seattle U student body president is one of 664 women’s collegiate golfers to receive the prestigious honor from the coach’s organization. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Gaddie is the only graduating senior from the 2013-14 roster, giving the Seattle University women’s golf team some experience heading into the 2014-15 campaign. Next year’s schedule is being finalized, but Seattle U will host the inaugural Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country Club Oct. 13-14.
