The Seattle University women’s golf team fought through blustery conditions at Longbow Golf Club Saturday, ending up in fourth place after the second round of the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships.
Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) and Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) are tied for 19th place in the individual standings with a two-round total of 165 (+21). After struggling through the middle of her round, Beyke settled down with pars on four of the final five holes for an 84 (+12), while Addicks birdied the 17th hole for the second straight day and shot par on the 18th hole to end her circuit on a positive note after shooting 89 (+17).
Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) was one of just nine golfers in the 45-player field to shoot below 80 Saturday, starting her round with back-to-back birdies on her way to a second round score of 78 (+6). Huo moved up into the top half of the individual standings, ending the day in 22nd place with a cumulative total of 167 (+23).
Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) was even-par through the first four holes before struggling the rest of the way, finishing with an 89 (+17) for a two-day total of 173 (+29), currently in 28th place. Juhee Lee (Manhattan, Ore.) is tied for 34th place at 176 (+32) after shooting 94 (+22) in the second round, although she did par three of the final four holes of the day.
Seattle U fell from third to fourth after shooting 340 (+52) in the second round for a cumulative total of 663 (+87). Idaho held on to a four-stroke lead over New Mexico State in the team standings, as the Vandals’ Cassie McKinley and Leilanie Kim are tied for the individual lead at 152 (+8), three strokes ahead of Viviana Macias of New Mexico State.
The third and final round of the WAC Women’s Golf Championships is scheduled to start at 7 a.m., with the Seattle U golfers teeing off from 7:50 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
