Seattle U Faces Final Regular Season Road Opponent: Seattle University softball (15-28, 4-5 WAC) won their second straight Western Athletic Conference series last weekend, taking two games from Kansas City in Seattle. This week, the Redhawks head to Bakersfield (11-34-1, 1-8 WAC) for their final regular season road series before returning home for their regular season finale on Apr. 25-26. Scouting Bakersfield (11-34-1, 1-8 WAC): Bakersfield was swept by WAC-leading New Mexico State last weekend but led by senior Amy Ricciardi who went 6-for-14 (.425) at the plate and added two runs and two RBI. On Saturday, the Roadrunners will honor their five-member senior class including Ricciardi, Taylor DeSilva, Kara Frankhouser, Shay Fryer, and Karissa Veiga. This season, Veiga leads CSUB at the plate (.338), also adding 29 runs on 53 hits as well as eight doubles, five triples, and 15 RBIs. Kelsie Monroe leads the team in the circle with 28 starts, 10 complete games, an 8-17 record, and a 3.44 ERA. The ‘Runners earned their first WAC win vs. Grand Canyon, 5-4, in game one of the doubleheader on Apr. 5.

Seattle U to Host 2014 WAC Tournament: Seattle U will host the 2014 WAC Tournament on May 8-10, with all five eligible teams (Grand Canyon is in DI reclassification and thus not eligible) advancing to the tournament. All-session tickets are now available on the “Tickets” link on GoSeattleU.com and must be picked up at will call on the first day of the tournament (11th & Jefferson gate). Single game tickets will be available for purchase at the gate only.

Davis Records First Career Complete Game Shutout Versus a DI Opponent: Freshman pitcher Lindsay Davis recorded her first career complete game shutout vs. a Division I opponent in game one of the doubleheader vs. Kansas City on Apr. 11. In two starts on the weekend on the weekend (also starting game three of the series on Apr. 12), Davis pitched 11 shutout innings and 8.2 without giving up a hit.
