The ninth annual Swishes for Wishes charity basketball game between student leaders and faculty and staff at Seattle University is scheduled to take place Wednesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at the Connolly Center North Court. Proceeds from donations at the game, as well as the annual Penny Wars competition within the residence halls leading up to the event, will benefit the Alaska & Washington Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Over the past eight years, the Swishes for Wishes game has raised approximately $10,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tim Leary, the executive vice president for Seattle University, will once again serve as head coach of the faculty/staff team, while student body president Eric Chalmers will coach the team of student leaders. Members of the Seattle University men's and women's basketball teams will be the referees for the game. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
