Seattle University softball (10-20) is set to host Northwest University in their first home game of the 2014 season on Monday, Mar. 24 at 6 p.m. after opening the season with their first 30 games on the road. After hosting the Eagles, the Redhawks will open conference play at New Mexico State on Mar. 28-29. A link to live stats is on the softball schedule page at GoSeattleU.com.
Scouting Northwest University (1-9 as of 3/21): The Eagles earned their first win of the season last weekend vs. Eastern Oregon on Mar. 14 in game two of a doubleheader on their home field. They are set to face Corban University (Mar. 21) and Northwest Christian (Mar. 22) this weekend before making the short trip to Seattle. Katelin Lewis leads the Eagles at the plate with a .400 avg. as well as three runs on 10 hits and four RBIs. Kierston Perry and Kelli Peckham have shared time in the circle thus far in 2014. This is just the second year of the softball program at NU, as they competed in their inaugural season in 2013.
The SU-NU connection: Rogin Hardy, a 2013 graduate of Seattle U and member of the softball team, is in her first season as an assistant coach at Northwest University.
