Seattle U to Host Idaho in Annual Pink Game: Seattle University women’s basketball (10-10, 5-2 WAC) earned one of their most dominant wins of the season, defeating WAC newcomer Grand Canyon, 89-68, on Jan. 25 in what Coach Bonvicini said was “the best game [the team] had played all year”. The Redhawks host current Western Athletic Conference leader Idaho (14-7, 7-0 WAC) on Saturday Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. in the team’s annual Play 4Kay game, sponsored by the Seattle U College of Nursing, and look to defend a six game Connolly Center win streak. Links to available live coverage are on the women’s basketball schedule page at GoSeattleU.com.
Pink Game Festivities: As Saturday’s game serves as the program’s annual Play 4Kay game to benefit and raise money for the fight against women’s cancers, there are several ways fans can get involved. There will be numerous ways to donate throughout the game and fans who donate at the specially designated table will receive a special pink wristband or pink ribbon. 10% of concession sales will also go towards the cause. Fans can also still contribute online at www.play4kay.org/suwbb. Two special pregame rallies will also be taking place including the Redzone Rally at the Connolly Center racquetball courts, open to all students, and the Seattle U College of Nursing Alumni Rally at the SU Alumni Center, both taking place from 12-2 pm. If the team’s $2,014 goal is met by the end of the game, head coach Joan Bonvicini has agreed to be pied in the face at center court following the game.
