“The spring season provides our team with a great opportunity to compete against local rivals and challenge ourselves physically, technically and tactically,” said 2013 WAC Coach of the Year Julie Woodward. “The main focus of the winter and spring season at Seattle U is individual improvement. Everyone is working hard to add different aspects to their play, and the matches provide a wonderful opportunity to test ourselves under pressure.”
The spring schedule starts with a match in Bellingham vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, Mar. 9 before returning home to host Washington on Thursday, Mar. 13 at Seattle University Park.
The Redhawks, then, will remain in Seattle and host Eastern Washington on Saturday, Apr. 5 on their home pitch at Championship Field before making a return trip to Bellingham to face Western Washington on Friday, Apr. 11.
Saturday, Apr. 26 will feature a soccer doubleheader as Seattle U will host Portland State at 10 a.m. on Championship Field before Portland State takes on Western Washington at 2:30 p.m. On Thursday, May 1, the Redhawks will host crosstown opponent, Seattle Pacific under the lights at 7 p.m.
Seattle U closes out the spring season with their annual alumni game on Saturday, May 3 at Championship Field at 2 p.m. Odd vs. even graduating years will compete against each other, as current Seattle U players will not compete.
The Redhawks look to continue their success in the Western Athletic Conference and at the national level this fall after a successful 2013 campaign.
