Seattle University head volleyball coach James Finley has announced that Tabea Dalliard (Moerel-Filet, Switzerland) and Jelena Vujcin (Becej, Serbia) signed National Letters of Intent during the November signing period to attend the university and join the Redhawk volleyball program starting in the 2014-15 academic year.
Dalliard is a 5’6” libero currently playing for the Swiss National Team and for Neuchâtel Université Club. She has played at the club level since 2004 and at the national level since 2008, first earning a spot on the U17 Young National Team before moving on to the U19 Junior National Team.
“Tabea will bring us a strong ball control player who has maturity, speed, IQ and a high level of competition,” Finley said. “Tabea will be a strong student and teammate and will contribute immediately to our success."
Vujcin is a 6’3” opposite/middle hitter currently playing for NIS Spartak in the top volleyball league in Serbia. Last year, she helped her team finish in second place in the league, and the squad is currently in third place this year with eyes on advancing to the league finals.
“Jelena is a good athlete and strong student. She will compete in the middle and on the right side. Her athletic ability will continue the growth of our program,” added Finley.
The Seattle University volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament after finishing in a tie for fifth place in the regular season standings with a 9-7 conference mark. Dalliard and Vujcin will join WAC Freshman of the Year Iris Ivanis, Second Team All-WAC and All-WAC Tournament honoree Martina Samadan, and WAC All-Freshman Team member Kerry Lane, among others, for the 2014 season.
