Seattle University women’s soccer’s Stephanie Verdoia (Salt Lake City, Utah) has been named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women’s Scholar All-America Third Team, University Division, as announced earlier today by the organization.

Verdoia was one of 37 NCAA Division I women’s student-athletes and one of just eight forwards named across the three teams. She also represents the state of Washington and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) as the only female student-athlete from a school in either entity named to the teams.

Named the WAC Offensive Player of the Year, Verdoia led the league during conference play in shots, points, and assists, leading or tying for the lead in every recorded offensive category throughout regular season play. She was named to the CollegeSoccer360 Primetime Honor Roll (Oct. 14-20) and received WAC Player of the Week honors three times in 2013, also named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division I Women’s All-West Region Second Team.

Off the field, Verdoia excels in the classroom with a 3.98 cumulative GPA as a political science major. She also represents Seattle U as a member of the WAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was named a Capital One Academic All-American in 2013.

To be named to the Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team, and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member.
