Seattle U To Host Montana State in Final Non-Conference Home Game: Seattle University women’s basketball (3-6) returns home to host Montana State (4-2) in their last game non-conference home game before opening Western Athletic Conference play versus New Mexico State on Jan. 9, 2014. After this game, the Redhawks will finish their non-conference schedule at LMU, Cal State Fullerton, and UC Santa Barbara, before traveling to Chicago State and Kansas City to start the new year and open WAC play.

Sowell Named to 2014 Allstate WBCA Good Works Team®: Kacie Sowell was one of 84 women’s basketball student-athletes from all levels of college basketball named to the 2014 Allstate WBCA Good Works Team®. The team honors student-athletes who represent the sport in areas of leadership and charitable achievements amongst their peers. From the nominees, special voting panels will select two 10 member teams comprised of student-athletes from NCAA Division I, and five member teams from Divisions II, III, and NAIA.

Ward Passes 1000 Career Points Mark: Ashley Ward became the 13th player in program history to pass the 1000 career point mark with a layup at the 9:55 mark of the first half in the Delta Dental Thanksgiving Tournament Championship vs. Cornell on Nov. 30. Ward joined fellow senior Kacie Sowell in the elite club, and the third member of the senior trio, Sylvia Shephard, is just 62 points away from the milestone.
 
Scouting Montana State (4-2): The Bobcats opened the season with a win vs. CSU Northridge, 85-69, also topping Montana State-Billings, and Denver. Montana State went 1-1 most recently at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic in Miami, Fla., falling to Villanova, 77-59, and topping Valparaiso, 96-85. Ashley Brumwell leads the team with 12.8 ppg, while Kalli Durham (10.8 ppg) and Jasmine Hommes (10.5) are also averaging in double figures.

Sylvia Shephard Grabs 200th Career Steal: Sylvia Shephard nabbed her 200th career steal on Nov. 24 vs. Portland. The WAC’s active leader in steals with 209, she ranks tied for 21st nationally in active career leaders and this season ranks 66th nationally with an average of 2.56 per game.
