The Seattle University women’s swim team picked up the pace of personal-best times as the Husky Invitational continued Saturday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

The evening session started with Carlee Bock (Bellingham, Wash.), Blaise Wittenauer-Lee (Portland, Ore.), Jane Liggett (Portland, Ore.), and Nicole Doi (Pleasanton, Calif.) posting a time of 1:50.64 in the 200 medley relay to finish in 17th place. In the 400 individual medley, Kate Sabourin (Santa Rosa, Calif.) finished second in the “B” final, improving upon her preliminary time of 4:33.80 with a mark of 4:32.37 in the evening finals, while Bethany Gehrke (Lynnwood, Wash.) finished in 15th place overall after following a morning time of 4:35.01 with an evening mark of 4:41.85.

Wittenauer-Lee moved into fourth place on the all-time Seattle U top ten list in the 100 butterfly with a preliminary swim of 57.65 seconds, followed by a mark of 58.60 seconds to finish in 16th place overall. She also maintained her position on the Redhawk all-time list in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in third place overall after times of 1:04.64 in the preliminaries and 1:04.61 in the finals.

“Kate and Bethany performed well in the IM today, and Blaise continued to post fast times today in both the butterfly and breaststroke events,” Seattle U head coach Craig Nisgor said. “I am pleased with everyone’s efforts so far and look for them to continue for one more day this weekend.”

The Seattle University women’s swim team will conclude its participation in the Husky Invitational Sunday, Dec. 8, with representation in the 1650 freestyle, the 200 backstroke, the 100 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke, the 200 butterfly, and the 400 freestyle relay. The morning session is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., with the evening finals set to start at 5 p.m.
