Seattle U to Host Oregon at KeyArena, Travel to San Diego: Seattle University women’s basketball (3-4) won their second straight Delta Dental Thanksgiving Tournament title with victories over Coastal Carolina, 84-53, and Cornell, 52-49 on Nov. 29-30. This week, they will host Oregon, their third Pac-12 foe of the season, in their annual game at KeyArena at Seattle Center on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Ward Passes 1000 Career Points Mark: Ashley Ward became the 13th player in program history to pass the 1000 career points mark with a layup at the 9:55 mark of the first half in the Delta Dental Thanksgiving Tournament Championship vs. Cornell on Nov. 30. Ward joined fellow senior Kacie Sowell in the elite club and fellow senior Sylvia Shephard is just 90 points away from the milestone.
Scouting Oregon (4-2): The Ducks have won their last two contests, bookending the holiday weekend with a pair of wins at home (vs. Pepperdine, 83-80, on Nov. 25 and Princeton, 110-90, on Dec. 1). Four different Ducks are averaging in double figures, led by Chrishae Rowe who is averaging 22.7 ppg. The 2012-13 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Jillian Alleyne leads the team, grabbing 12.5 rpg, and ranks second in scoring (19.8 ppg). Paul Westhead is in his fifth season as head coach at Oregon.
