“I am very happy for Miguel,” said WAC Coach of the Year Pete Fewing. “He is a terrific soccer player and a better teammate. He works very hard, never complains, and simply wants the team to win. I am proud of him and honored to coach him as well, and I believe he can play at the next level for sure.”
Gonzalez scored both goals, including the game-winner, in the team’s fifth come-from-behind win of the season to top Creighton, 2-1, in Omaha, Neb. on Nov. 21. This win marked the program’s first ever NCAA DI Tournament win and the first DI Tournament win for an SU men’s team since March 1964. He also assisted Chase Hanson’s goal in the NCAA Tournament Second Round at No. 2 Washington on Nov 24.

He was also named to the WAC All-Tournament team after scoring the equalizing goal in the team’s come-from-behind win vs. San Jose State in the title game on Nov. 17.
Those also named to the team included Bradley’s Wojciech Wojcik, Michigan State’s Tim Kreutz, Marquette’s Coco Navarro, UCLA’s Leo Stolz, Wake Forest’s Ricky Greensfelder, Virginia’s Eric Bird, Coastal Carolina’s Shawn McLaws, Notre Dame’s Andrew O’Malley, Stanford’s Drew Hutchins, and California’s Alec Sundly, also named National Player of the Week.
