The Seattle University women's soccer team was recognized for its performance in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year, earning the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, announced recently by the national organization. This is the third straight year the Redhawks have earned this award.
"I am really proud of our team's accomplishments in the classroom," said WAC Coach of the Year Julie Woodward. "I believe their commitment to their academics sets a great foundation for what we want to achieve on the field. Our team was extremely committed and disciplined and I am so impressed with each and every individual and how hard they work to represent our program."
The team combined for a 3.35 grade point average in 2012-13, one of 593 women’s soccer programs across all division throughout the country to earn this award for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Also winning several conference and national awards this year, the squad positively represents Seattle U both on and off the field.
The Seattle University women's soccer team recently finished a historic year in which they became the first Seattle U women’s team to qualify for an NCAA Division I Tournament. Led by WAC Coach of the Year Julie Woodward, the team won both the WAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles, going undefeated in league play in 2013.
