“This season we have a great schedule that will challenge our young team,” said head coach Dan Powers. “We are playing teams from the Mountain West, West Coast Conference, Big Sky, Big West, SEC, and Pac-12 during our non-conference tournaments in preparation for WAC play. We are also excited to be hosting the WAC Championships at Logan Field in May and look forward to showing everyone how great the city of Seattle is.”
The Redhawks open the season at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. where they will face Cal Poly and San Jose State (Feb. 7) on day one, CS Northridge and San Diego State (Feb. 8) on day two, and Penn State and Stanford (Feb. 9) on the final day of the tournament.
SU then heads to UNLV for the Easton Desert Classic (Feb. 13-16) for the second straight year where they will face BYU, Florida, Hawaii, Utah, Portland State, and Toledo. The following week, they will face LMU and Riverside for two games apiece at the Amy S. Harrison Classic (Feb. 21-23) in Riverside, Calif.
From Feb. 28-Mar. 2, Boston University, Santa Clara, and UC Davis are among Seattle U’s opponents at the Santa Clara Marriott Invitational before they face UCSB and Nevada at the Nevada Classic (Mar. 7-9). They will play their final early season tournament of 2014 in San Diego, Calif. facing Weber State, Fairleigh Dickinson, and San Diego from Mar. 14-16.
Seattle U welcomes Northwest University to Logan Field on Mar. 24 at 6 p.m., also hosting the University of Washington on Apr. 1 at 6 p.m. They will wrap up non-conference play with a doubleheader at Portland State on Apr. 9.
In WAC competition, SU travels to New Mexico State (Mar. 28-29) and Bakersfield (Apr. 18-19) and will host Utah Valley (Apr. 4-5), Kansas City (Apr. 11-12), and Grand Canyon (Apr. 25-26).
Seattle U will host the Western Athletic Conference tournament from May 8-10, the second time Seattle U has hosted a WAC Championship this season after hosting the WAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2. All five eligible teams (not including Grand Canyon) will advance to the tournament.
