Several current and alumni members of the Seattle University cross country team competed Sunday morning at the USATF Pacific Northwest Open and Masters Cross Country Championships at Lower Woodland Park.
In the women’s six-kilometer open race, Jennifer Stolle (Seattle, Wash.) finished in 11th place overall with a time of 22:59, over 37 seconds faster than the mark she posted at the same venue two weeks ago at the Emerald City Open. Rebecca Lassere (Boise, Idaho) finished in 26th place in 24:12, just ahead of Emily Hedberg (Phoenix, Ariz.) in 28th place in 24:18.
Meghan Arigo (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) crossed the finish line in 34th place with a time of 24:51, followed by Lindsay Frederick (Seattle, Wash.) in 37th place and Moira O’Connor Lenth (Seattle, Wash.) in 38th place, both credited with a time of 24:55. Amy Clawson (Mahomet, Ill.) came in 39th place with a time of 25:00, ahead of Amy Tolentino (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) in 40th place in 25:09 and Haley Kruell (Portland, Ore.) in 44th place in 26:43.
In the men’s 10-kilometer race, Conner Hayes (Mill Creek, Wash.) came in 39th place with a time of 39:39. Running unattached, Baxter Arguinchona (Spokane, Wash.) crossed the finish line in 29th place with a mark of 35:28. Redhawk alum Matthew McClement won the event by 16 seconds with a time of 32:09, while Erik Barkhaus, the 2012 WAC cross country individual champion, finished in eighth place in 33:03.
The coaches also participated in Sunday’s competition. Assistant coach Uli Steidl won the masters’ six-kilometer race in 20:25.00, and then he finished fifth in the open 10-kilometer event with a time of 32:39.00. Head coach Trisha Steidl finished 24th in the women’s open six-kilometer race in 23:57, just ahead of Seattle U Athletic Hall of Famer Kelly Fullerton in 25th place in 24:04.
The 14 members of the Seattle University cross country team who competed at the WAC Championships last Saturday are preparing for the NCAA West Regional, hosted by Sacramento State at Haggin Oaks Golf Club Friday, Nov. 15. The men’s 10-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women’s six-kilometer event at 11:45 a.m.
