Redhawks To Take Final Regular Season Roadtrip: Seattle University men’s soccer (6-8-3, 5-0-2 WAC) remains in sole possession of first place in the Western Athletic Conference standings, as they are still the only undefeated team in conference play with three regular season matches remaining. They extended their unbeaten streak to six games overall last weekend, with a 1-1 draw vs. Air Force (Oct. 25) and a 3-0 shutout vs. Grand Canyon (Oct. 27). Jake Feener remains on top of NCAA DI men’s soccer standings in total saves (112) while Miguel Gonzalez is tied for second in DI in total goals (12). Scouting Houston Baptist (7-6-1, 2-4-1 WAC): Houston Baptist, currently in second place in the WAC East standings but tied for sixth overall, welcomes a three-game homestand to end their regular season as they are on a five-game winless streak. The Huskies’ last win came at Grand Canyon on Oct. 11, 2-1.Tobenna Uzo leads the team with nine goals, 18 points, and 38 shots, as well as two game-winning goals. Kevin Suarez and George Kelley have split time in goal, recording 30 and 18 saves respectively, both with a sub-2.00 GAA currently. Steve Jones is in his eighth season as the HBU head men’s soccer coach.

Scouting Kansas City (4-7-4, 3-3-1 WAC): After a four-game undefeated streak, including one tie (Oct. 11-20), the Kangaroos lost two straight last weekend at UNLV and Bakersfield, both by a 2-0 margin. They are set to host San Jose State and SU this weekend before closing out the regular season at Houston Baptist. UMKC is currently in first place in the WAC East standings and fourth place overall. Jordan Rideout has recorded a team-high six goals and 54 shots, as well as two-game winning goals, going 2-2 in PK attempts. In goal, Chris McGaughey has made 67 saves in the starting spot while Kevin Corby has made 15 saves in three starts. At the helm, Rick Benben, the longest tenured and most successful coach in UMKC men’s soccer history, is in his 16th season. He was also inducted into the UMKC Athletics Hall of Fame in January 2012. The Kangaroos most recently appeared in the NCAA College Cup in 2008.

WAC Tournament: The 2013 WAC Tournament will be hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 14-17. Besides Grand Canyon, who is not yet eligible for NCAA Championships through their reclassification period, all seven other teams will advance to the conference tournament.
