Seattle University women’s rowing opened their second season as a Division I varsity program at the Portland Fall Classic on the Willamette River, as the novice 8+ led the way, finishing third in their respective race.
“I am very happy with the way the V4+ and N8+ raced today,” said head coach Jenny Park. “We still have a lot of work to do, but I have no doubt we’ll get there.”
In the Women’s Collegiate Division I Varsity 8+ race, the Redhawks finished third with a time of 19:32.15 behind Washington State and Portland.
In the Women’s Collegiate Varsity 4+, SU finished sixth with a time of 23:06.96, ahead of Lewis & Clark (A), Portland State, Willamette, Oregon, and Portland (B), as Washington State finished first.
In the Redhawks’ final race of the day, in the the Women’s Collegiate/Open Novice 8+, Seattle U finished third behind Portland (A) and UPS (A) with a time of 22:12.56.
The Redhawks close out the fall season back in Seattle at the Head of the Lake on the Montlake Cut on Sunday, Nov. 3.
