The Seattle University women’s golf team ended up in sixth place after Monday’s first round of the Colby Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara University at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club.

Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) posted the best round among the Seattle U golfers, shooting 78 (+6) to end the day in a tie for 14th place. Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) sits right behind Gaddie in a tie for 18th place after posting an opening round score of 79 (+7).

Juhee Lee (Manhattan, Ore.) shot 80 (+8) in the first round to end up in a tie for 20th place, followed by Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) in a tie for 24th place with a score of 81 (+9). Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) ended the first day in a tie for 28th place with a score of 83 (+11).

As a team, Seattle University combined for a first-round score of 318 (+30), 15 strokes behind first round leader Boise State, as the Broncos hold a two-shot advantage over Cal State Northridge. Sadie Strain of Santa Clara shot two-under-par 70 to hold the individual lead by one stroke over McKenzie Ford of Boise State, the only other player to break par Monday.

The second and final round of the Colby Invitational is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.
