Four of Seattle University’s five golfers played better in the second round than in the first Saturday, allowing the Redhawks to move up into a tie for 10th place after 36 holes of the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club.
Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) posted Seattle U’s best score in each round, following a 76 (+4) with a 75 (+3) to end the day in a tie for 15th place at 151 (+7). Juhee Lee (Manhattan, Ore.) also improved by one stroke, combining a first-round 77 (+5) with a second-round 76 (+4) for a total of 153 (+9) to finish the day in a tie for 22nd place.
Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) shot 78 (+6) in the first round and 79 (+7) in the second round for a 36-hole total of 157 (+13), currently in a tie for 48th place. Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) improved upon a first-round 82 (+10) with a second-round 78 (+6) to finish the day in a tie for 63rd place at 160 (+16), and Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) shot 84 (+12) and 79 (+7) for a two-round total of 163 (+19), putting her in a tie for 79th place.
As a team, Seattle University posted scores of 313 (+25) and 308 (+20) to pull into a tie for 10th place in the team standings at 621 (+45). At 601 (+25), Western Carolina holds a three-stroke lead over Cal State Fullerton and San Francisco, while Clariss Guce of Cal State Northridge and Taylor Yoshitake of Cal Poly are tied for the individual lead with a cumulative total of 143 (-1).
The third and final round of the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate will begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.
