Redhawks Open Conference Play at San Jose State: Seattle University men’s soccer (1-7-1) is set to open Western Athletic Conference play in their first year in the league after four seasons in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The Redhawks will travel to San Jose, Calif. for a single game versus San Jose State (0-6-2), who was a full member of the WAC in 2012-13. Single game tickets are available starting 60 minutes prior to kickoff at the Championship Field gate (corner of 14th and E Cherry St). Prices are as follows: reserved chairbacks ($9), general admission adults ($7), general admission youth 17 and under ($5), general admission seniors age 65+ ($5).

Scouting San Jose State (0-6-2): Still looking for their first regular season win of 2013, the Spartans have taken three games into double overtime, including two draws, one scoreless. Four of six losses have been just by just one goal. Three different Spartans have scored a goal for the Spartans, including Rory Knibbs who leads the team with 17 shots, eight on goal. Felix Petermann has started five games in goal, making six appearances, while recording 22 saves and a 2.06 GAA. Emmanuel Espinosa, recently named WAC Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 23-29), has made three starts, recording 16 saves and a 0.92 GAA. Head coach Gary St. Clair brings 23 years of experience into the 2013 season and is one of just two coaches in SJSU men’s soccer history to reach the 200-win milestone.

NCAA Division I Leader: As of Sept. 29, SU goalkeeper Jake Feener is leading the nation in saves (66) and ranks second in saves per game (7.33).
