After helping lead the Seattle University women’s soccer team to a pair of shutouts in Western Athletic Conference action, Kiana Kraft (Kent, Wash.) has been named Featured Student-Athlete for the week of Sept. 23-29 on GoSeattleU.com. This is the third honoree for the team this season as Julia Moravec (Spokane, Wash.) and Jacqui Wallis (Lake Oswego, Ore.) received the honor on Aug. 27 and Sept. 10, respectively.

“Kiana is such a strong, technical player whose impressive ability to attack and defend really changes the game for us,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “She is an all-around wonderful person and great athlete. She competes so hard both on the field and in the classroom and represents our program to the fullest.”

Over the weekend, Kraft recorded two starts and her first assist of the season, assisting Stephanie Verdoia’s goal and tallying three shots of her own vs. New Mexico State on Sept. 29. This season, Kraft has recorded one goal, one assist, and six shots, four on goal.

Off the field, Kraft also excels in the classroom with a 3.861 cumulative GPA as an accounting major.

Seattle U (6-2-2, 3-0-0 WAC), currently tied for first place in the conference standings, hits the road for three straight matches after recently wrapping up a four game homestand. The Redhawks face Bakersfield (Oct. 4) and Utah Valley (Oct. 6) this weekend as well as Grand Canyon (Oct. 11) on the road before returning home to host Utah Valley on Oct. 18.

The Seattle University athletics department names a Featured Student-Athlete each Tuesday based on performances both in the classroom and in competition.
