The Seattle University women’s golf team opened its 2013-14 season at the Cougar Cup Monday, ending the day in 10th place in the tournament hosted by Washington State at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course.

Freshman Jamie Huo (Kent, Wash.) was the team’s leading golfer throughout the day, posting round of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4) to finish her first two collegiate rounds at 153 (+9), currently in a tie for 20th place. Huo is second in par-three scoring at one-under-par and collected five birdies during the day.

Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) and Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) posted identical scores of 78 (+6) in the first round and 81 (+9) in the second round for a two-round total of 159 (+15), currently tied for 38th place. Beyke is tied for fourth within the entire field in par-four scoring at even-par.

Monica Keo (Kaneohe, Hawaii) recovered from a first-round 87 (+15), shooting 79 (+7) in the second round to finish the day in a tie for 59th place at 166 (+22). Alexus Song (Auburn, Wash.) posted scores of 85 (+13) and 82 (+10) to close Monday in a tie for 62nd place at 167 (+23).

Playing as individuals, Juhee Lee (Manhattan, Ore.) shot 82 (+10) and 79 (+7) to end the day in a tie for 44th place at 161 (+17), Taylor Shweiki (Clovis, Calif.) joined Song in 62nd place at 167 (+23) after rounds of 83 (+11) and 84 (+12), and Dorsey Addicks (Big Sky, Mont.) is in a tie for 71st place with rounds of 86 (+14) and 84 (+12) for a cumulative score of 170 (+26).

As a team, Seattle U combined for scores of 318 (+30) and 317 (+29) for a two-round total of 635 (+59), in 10th place by nine strokes ahead of Montana State. Washington State leads the team competition at 588 (+12), six strokes ahead of Gonzaga, with Mallory Kent of the Cougars opening a five-stroke advantage in the individual standings thanks to consecutive scores of 70 (-2).

The third and final round of the Cougar Cup will begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m., with the Redhawk golfers starting their rounds on holes 10-16.
