LIVING OUT OF A SUITCASE: Seattle University is staying in California to start the week, facing Cal State Northridge Tuesday night at the Matadome, After flying back to Seattle Wednesday night, the Redhawks board the bus Thursday morning, heading to Pullman for matches against Washington State Friday and Nevada Saturday. Those contests will wrap up the non-conference schedule for Seattle U, as the Redhawks open WAC play during the final weekend of September.

WAC STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS: Through matches of Sept. 14, Kerry Lane is sixth in the Western Athletic Conference in assists with 7.84 assists per set, while Iris Ivanis is seventh in service aces with 0.32 aces/set. Allison Farley finds herself in eighth place in hitting percentage with a mark of .285 so far this season. As a team, Seattle U is fifth in the WAC in blocks with 1.97 blocks per set and sixth in the league in service aces with 1.11 aces per set.

QUICK NOTE: During the Loyola Marymount match, Allison Farley moved past Libby Graff into sixth place on the school’s all-time blocks list with 248 career blocks.

SCOUTING CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE: The Matadors enter Tuesday’s match with a 7-2 record. Cal State Northridge won its first six matches before losing to nationally-ranked teams Creighton and UCLA over the weekend in Denver. The Matadors rebounded to defeat the Denver Pioneers to end the weekend. CSUN is 4-1 in five-set matches. This will be the first home match for the Matadors this season. As a team, CSUN is hitting .279 while holding opponents to a .225 hitting percentage. Natalie Allen leads the team offensively with 3.49 kills per set and a .333 hitting percentage, plus she is second on the team in digs (2.51 digs/set) and third in blocks (0.77 blocks/set). Sydney Gedryn has taken over as the team’s setter, averaging 10.64 assists per set, plus she leads the team with 11 service aces. Defensively, Casey Hinger leads the team with 36 total blocks, and Kelcie Randazzo leads the way with 126 digs.

SCOUTING WASHINGTON STATE: The Cougars enter the weekend with a perfect 10-0 record after defeating Jackson State, Lamar, and Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas over the weekend. As a team, Washington State is hitting .314 while holding opponents to a .112 hitting percentage. Kyra Holt leads the team offensively with 4.24 kills per set, plus she is second on the team in service aces (10), third in digs (2.79 digs/set), and fourth in total blocks (22). Ver’Leea Hardaway is second on the team in both kills (3.06 kills/set) and total blocks (39), plus she has posted a .421 hitting percentage. Camryn Irwin is the team’s setter, averaging 11.26 assists per set, plus she leads the Cougars with 12 service aces. Jaicee Harris has contributed 97 kills and 115 digs, with Kate Sommer leading the team with 130 digs and Marcelina Glab pacing the squad at the net with 41 total blocks. 

SCOUTING NEVADA: The Wolf Pack enters the weekend with a 2-7 record, with their victories coming against Big Sky schools Weber State and Montana. As a team, Nevada is hitting .118, while opponents have posted a .218 hitting percentage. Tessa Lea’ea is averaging a team-high 3.03 kills and 1.52 blocks per set. Dana Holt has been handling the setting duties, averaging 8.53 assists per set, while Kara Kasser leads the team in the back with 3.16 digs per set.
