Martina Samadan (Split, Croatia), a sophomore on the 2013 Seattle University volleyball team, teamed with Ivana Vukasovic to win the Croatian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship in late July.

Samadan and Vukasovic lost just one match during the qualification portion of the tournament. Once bracket play began, the dup swept through the field, gaining a measure of revenge on the older, more experienced pair that had previously beat them with a sweep.

Samadan, a 6'5" middle blocker, is transferring to Seattle U from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Year and AVCA Northeast Region Freshman of the Year honors after finishing fourth in the country in blocks per set (1.67). Helping the Rams post a 25-6 overall record, she set school records in blocks per set as well as in total blocks (172) and hitting percentage (.349).

The Seattle University volleyball team will begin practice next week in preparation for their second season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference, where they look to finish in the top six to qualify for the WAC Tournament Nov. 25-27 in Phoenix, Ariz
