Despite shooting the same score as yesterday, the Seattle University women’s golf team fell two spots down the leaderboard during Tuesday’s second round of the Western Athletic Conference Championship held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

Clare Sorensen (Roseville, Calif.) is still the top-ranked Redhawk after shooting 74 (+2) for the second straight day. She was spent much of the day at even-par or 1-under, but three consecutive bogeys on holes 14-16 put her back at 2-over for the day, where she remained after parring the final two holes. She is in sole possession of fifth place with 148 strokes, four shots above par, for the tournament.

Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) moved five spots up the leaderboard after also shooting 2-over 74 Tuesday. She tallied one birdie and eight pars on the front nine, but took four bogeys on the back. A birdie on No. 18 to end the round put her back at 2-over for the day. She is now tied for seventh after taking 150 strokes (+6) during the two rounds played so far.

Next for the Redhawks, Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) saw a tough day on the course, carding an 8-over-par 80 in round two. She made the turn at +5 after three bogeys and one double bogey in the first six holes, then added two more bogeys and one additional double in the second nine. Her lone red number came on No. 14, where she made a birdie-3. She is tied for 21st with a two-day total of 154, 10 shots above par.

Both Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) and Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) carded 7-over-par 79s on the day, improving on their first round scores. Quinn had an up-and-down day, tallying two birdies, eight pars, seven bogeys, and one double bogey over 18 holes, putting her at 31st overall with a score of 161 (+17). Beyke parred 10 holes on the day, birdying one and adding six bogeys and one double bogey. She is both one spot and one stroke behind Quinn, in 32nd with a score of 18-over 162.

As a team, the Redhawks once again shot 306, 18 strokes above par Tuesday. They have a two-day total of 612 strokes, 36 above par and are in sixth place, four strokes behind Idaho and Texas State, who are tied for fourth. 29th-ranked Denver has the team lead at 586 strokes, 10 strokes above par, and the Pioneers’ Tonje Daffinrud, the 41st-ranked golfer in Division I according to Golfstat, remains the individual leader at 4-under-par 140.

The Redhawks will start the third and final round of the WAC Championship at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, again at Longbow Golf Club.
