After two rounds, the Seattle University women’s golf team finds itself in ninth place at the Challenge at Onion Creek at the Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas.
Two Redhawks are currently in the top 30 as both Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) and Clare Sorensen (Roseville, Calif.) are tied for 29th with three other players. Both Quinn and Sorensen took 73 shots (+3) in the first round and 77 (+7) in the second round, and they both enter the third and final round with 150 strokes, 10 shots above par.
Two shots back, Monica Keo (Kaneohe, Hawaii) took 152 strokes (+12) on the day. She fired rounds of 78 (+8) and 74 (+4) in order to tie for 36th individually in the tournament. Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) sits three strokes behind Keo, tied for 49th after tallying 155 strokes (+15) on the day. Pearson shot 77 (+7) in the morning’s first round and 78 (+8) in the afternoon’s second to reach that point.
Wrapping up Seattle U’s lineup, Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) carded rounds of 86 (+16) and 80 (+10) on the day to sit in 65th with 166 total strokes (+26) after two rounds.
As a team the Redhawks are in ninth place, carding 607 strokes (+47) on the day. Gonzaga has the team lead at 567 strokes (+7), while Texas State’s Krista Puisite is in first place with an individual tally of 138 strokes, two strokes below par.
The third and final round of the Challenge at Onion Creek will take place Tuesday, April 2, with an 8:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. Pacific) shotgun start. The Redhawks will start on holes 8-11 by virtue of their performance on Monday.
