The Women’s National Invitational Tournament Selection Committee has announced the 64-team field for the 2013 Postseason WNIT and Seattle University women’s basketball (20-10) will be a part of the tournament. The tournament, in its 16th season, features 36 teams with 20 or more wins.

Seattle U will travel to St. Mary’s in Moraga, Calif. for a first round game on Thursday, Mar. 21. The winner of that contest will face the winner of Wyoming vs. Northern Colorado in a second round matchup.

By virtue of winning the regular season Western Athletic Conference title, the Redhawks earned an automatic qualifying berth to the WNIT. They are the only team representing the WAC in the postseason tournament and earned a spot alongside teams from 30 other conferences, including 28.other automatic qualifiers.

This will be SU’s second all-time and second straight NCAA Division I postseason berth, as they made it to the semifinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational in the 2011-12 season.

The tournament’s first round goes from Wednesday, Mar. 20 to Friday, Mar. 22. Second round games will begin Mar. 23-25, round three Mar. 27-29, quarterfinals Mar. 30-Apr. 1, and semifinals Apr. 3-4. The championship game will be played on Saturday, Apr. 6 and will be televised live on CBS Sports Network. All games are hosted by participating schools.
