Peter Fewing, head coach of the Seattle University men's soccer team, has announced the hiring of Nate Daligcon, an All-American player and top area club soccer coach, as an assistant coach with the Redhawk men's soccer program, effective immediately.

Daligcon has been a head coach for several local club teams since 2004, most recently serving as head coach of Seattle United B01 Copa and G95 Copa. He led Emerald City FC G93 A to the 2005 Washington State Cup championship, plus guided two other squads to the state cup finals. He has also served as an assistant men's soccer coach at Seattle Pacific since 2009.

Daligcon was a two-time All-American at Seattle Pacific, helping the Falcons win the 1993 Division II national championship and advance to three national semifinal games as a center midfielder. He played in the A-League from 1996 through 2002, winning four league titles (three with the Rochester Rhinos, one with the Seattle Sounders), as well as the 1999 U.S. Open Cup championship as a member of the Rochester Rhinos.

"I am thrilled to have Nate join us. He is an outstanding coach, he has great technical and tactical teaching abilities, and he is an excellent recruiter, with connections throughout the country along with a strong capacity to identify talent." Fewing said. "Nate will fit in well at Seattle University as he is a man of high integrity and character, he is a player's coach, and he knows how to win. He has many championships to his credit, and I know he will bring that focus and belief to our program. Nate joins a great list of tremendous assistant coaches we have had at Seattle University. I look forward to working with him in building our team."

Daligcon received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a marketing concentration from Seattle Pacific University, plus he holds a USSF "A" coaching license. He replaces Ed Moore, who became the head coach of the North Sound SeaWolves in the Pro Development League (PDL).

"I am thrilled at being named assistant coach for the SU men's soccer team. This is a great opportunity and I look forward to working with Pete Fewing, his coaching staff and the student-athletes. Seattle U has a rich soccer tradition, great academics, and first-rate athletic facilities, and I can't wait to get started working with the team," said Daligcon.

The Seattle University men's soccer team moves to the Western Athletic Conference in 2013, as the league will sponsor men's soccer as a championship sport for the first time since 1999. Next season, the Redhawks will compete against Air Force, CSU Bakersfield, Grand Canyon, Houston Baptist, San Jose State, UMKC, and UNLV, with Chicago State and Utah Valley set to begin competition in 2014 and UT Pan American scheduled to add men's soccer in time for the 2015 season.
