Collin Overbay (Spokane, Wash.) broke the longest-standing school record still on the books as the indoor track and field season concluded with the UW Final Qualifier Friday night at Dempsey Indoor.

Overbay finished eighth in his section and 16th overall in the men's mile run with a time of 4:14.00, 1.7 seconds faster than the previous record that had stood since the 2006 season. Ryan Dennison (Pacifica, Calif.) ran just behind Overbay in ninth place in their section, also coming in under the previous school record with a time of 4:15.59.

In the men's 5000 meter run, Erik Barkhaus (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), competing unattached as he prepares for the outdoor track and field season, finished 18th in the men's 5000 meter run with a time of 14:43.96.

The Seattle University track and field team moves on to the outdoor season, starting with the Oregon Preview at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Saturday, March 16, starting at 12:30 p.m.
