The Redhawks, in first place in the Western Athletic Conference, will host Texas State on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. and UTSA on Mar. 2 at 7 p.m.

This Week for the Redhawks: Seattle U (15-9, 12-3 WAC) extended their home WAC winning streak to six games with two double digit wins during their last homestand. They then hit the road and defeated both Louisiana Tech (87-74 on Feb. 14) and UT Arlington (78-64 on Feb. 16) during their final regular season road trip. Now back in first place in the Western Athletic Conference, the Redhawks will finish out the regular season at home starting with this weekend’s contests. On Thursday Feb. 28 at 7 p.m., SU hosts Texas State (9-16, 3-11 WAC), and on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 7 p.m., they host UTSA (14-11, 8-6 WAC). Student Incentive Program: For games during which school is in session, students in attendance will have the opportunity to win a prize worth $50 or more following the game (must be present to win). Students can enter the raffle when they pick up their free game ticket (with Student ID). At the end of the season, there will be a raffle for a grand prize, and students who have attended more games throughout the season will have a better chance to win. Scouting Texas State: The Bobcats are 9-16 overall and 3-11 in conference play, currently sitting in ninth place in the league. Diamond Ford leads the team averaging 21.1 points per game and Ashley Ezeh records a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game. Texas State has lost four of their last five contests, with a conference loss to UTSA, 74-65, and a non-conference loss to Houston Baptist in overtime, 78-76, most recently. Their last win was versus Louisiana Tech, 68-63, on Feb. 9.

Last Time Out:
The Bobcats took the early lead, 7-2, at 17:33, but this would prove to be their largest lead of the game. The Redhawks answered with a 12-3 run over the next three minutes to take the lead for good, 14-10, following a three pointer by Ashley Ward. A layup by Daidra Brown with 15:43 remaining in the contest gave the Redhawks their first double digit lead, 41-31. Texas State went on an 11-0 run over the final three minutes of the game to come withi nfour, 62-58, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. The Redhawks followed with an 8-0 run to finish the game. Shephard scored a career high 24 points, shooting 8-for-14 from the field and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line. Brenda Adhiambo recorded her second career double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds).

Scouting UTSA: University of Texas at San Antonio (14-11, 8-6 WAC) is currently tied for fourth in the conference with Louisiana Tech and behind Seattle U, Utah State, and Idaho. Kamra King leads the team with 9.0 ppg and Whitney Wright brings down a team-leading 4.1 rpg. The Roadrunners have won three of their last four games, but have not played on the road since Feb. 2. They have won their last two contests vs. UT Arlington, 73-45, on Feb. 9 and Texas State, 74-65, on Feb. 16.

Last Time Out:
UTSA handed the Redhawks their first conference loss of the season, as SU went into the game on a 7-0 win streak to open league play. Near the 13 minute mark, two straight layups by Kacie Sowell decreased the Roadrunner lead to five, 41-36, and Daidra Brown again cut the lead to five, 43-38, following a layup at 10:53. UTSA responded with an 11-3 run over the next four minutes, leading by as many as 15 over the final six minutes, and SU was not able to come within fewer than 10 points as they fell, 65-55. Sowell led all players with 18 points and 11 rebounds, recording her sixth double-double of the season.

“Clean Your Closet” for St. Vincent De Paul: For the remainder of the regular season, fans are encouraged to “Clean Your Closet” and bring new and gently used clothing to benefit St. Vincent De Paul of Seattle/King County. Donation boxes will be at the Connolly Center through the Mar. 9 contest vs. Idaho.

Kacie Sowell CSM WAC Player of the Week (Feb. 11-17):
Sowell was named the College Sports madness WAC Player of the Week for the second time this season as the team went 2-0 on the weekend. She led the Redhawks in scoring in wins at Louisiana Tech (87-74) on Feb. 14 and UT Arlington (78-64) on Feb. 16. She averaged 24.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg, shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 86.4 percent from the free-throw line, as well as scoring a career-high 26 points at LA Tech and recording her 13th double-double of the season at UT Arlington.
