Seattle University softball played their final game of the weekend, as they were tied 2-2 through four innings, before dropping the contest, 6-2, to Oregon State.
After a quiet first inning, a successful second inning for both teams tied the game, 2-2.
For the Redhawks, Allegra Wilde (Kennewick, Wash.) hit a 2 RBI single to left field in the top of the second to bring in Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) and Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.)
In the bottom of the second, the Beavers drove in two runs of their own as Lea Cavestany and Desiree Beltran scored on an error by the SU infield.
The game remained tied midway through the fifth inning when OSU took the lead, 4-2, on back-to-back RBI singles by Ya Garcia and Ashley Sanchez.
In the top of the sixth, the Redhawks had their best remaining chance to score, as Geronimo advanced to second and Brittney Lott (Tacoma, Wash.) advanced to third with two outs. However, the Beavers got the final out and stranded two runners on base to end the inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, Hannah Bouska and Natalie Hampton hit back-to-back solo home runs to center field to increase the Oregon State lead, 6-2, which proved to be the final score.
Jessica Ulrich (Lewiston, Idaho) was handed the loss in the start, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits while walking three in 4 2/3 innings pitched. Richelle Ashburn (Post Falls, Idaho) entered in relief, allowing two runs and striking out one in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
For Oregon State, Tina Andreana allowed two runs in the start, walking and striking out six. Marina Demore struck out one batter, allowing no hits, in two relief innings.
The Redhawks (5-5) will host Northwest University for a doubleheader next Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. before hosting Washington for the grand opening of the new Logan Field at Seattle University Park on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
